Seconds of Inspiration

Sometimes I think I have ADD because I get these flashes of ideas that if I don’t write down or execute immediately they disappear. My brain constantly jumps from one thing to another and sometimes when I’m trying to express thoughts or ideas when speaking I trip over my words like my brain is moving faster than my mouth. AH!

Whew, I needed that to get out. Anyway, I’ve sold a few items thru my etsy shop (click this link or the tab above) so now I can donate $7 of my sales to the rescue group I’ve chosen. The founder of the rescue is putting together a fundraiser in the next few months and she invite me to come and sell my goods and I can donate whatever portion I would  like to the rescue. AWESOME! I’m really excited to get my name out there more but also to help animals in need. The reason I love her rescue so much is 1. as I’ve previously stated, she’s been helping my clinic find homes for our abandoned kittens, 2. she specifically pulls pets from our local kill shelter who are on “death row” or special needs pets, and 3. she always seems so  stressed out so I really want to help them!

ADD insert: Speaking of inspiration, two xmas’s ago my friend Michelle from Art of ME gave me these awesome beginner painting supplies which I’ve only dabbled with (I’m self conscious). But as I started using my netbook again instead of lugging my giant laptop around I found an old wallpaper photo of Joshua Trees that I loved and had been wanting to attempt to do my own version in paint. I’ve just changed it back to my desktop background to help encourage me. It’s beautiful, I need to add seeing joshua trees to my life list. (added!)

the joshua tree

On another note of inspiration my good friend from UF Veterinary Medical Center (she no longer works there either, she now lives in NC) contacted me on facebook and asked me to crochet her 7 month old baby an apple beanie hat. I found an awesome pattern that I’m going to add my own spin on (as usual) and it should be finished tonight and listed. If it turns out really nice I will offer it on etsy again. I’m so excited! Here’s a glimpse on progress the first night:

Keep your chin up!

We are still hanging in there! The boyfriend has been getting around 20 hours the last two weeks at work so we are headed in the right direction. However somehow we neglected to pay our cable/internet bill and that has been disconnected. Sad times, luckily we both have iphones and therefore internet. So that is why I havent been around much in the blog world or social networks. I just use my phone which does a good deal but I hardly have time to go sit at starbucks to leach wifi from.

Thanks to some help from parental units I am still going to start school this semester. I officially registered for veterinary medical terminology and made my first payment--I still have to order my book but I have about a week til class starts. Im really excited! Ive been a vet tech for almost 13 years and I am on my way to earning my license! this also means I will be able to attend conferences for a discounted rate! Eventually (I recently decided this) I will go to vet school. :)

I start Monday!! All online.

Saturday I went to the Aveda beauty school for a friend as a hair model (shes a student) and got a new haircut/style. My hair is really thick and since shes a student and has to check in with the instructors it took forever!! But it was free, kinda, they ask that you do make some purchase when you have services done so I got a roll-on tube of natural headache oil stuff. I already have something similar so I knew I would like it. My hair had gotten so long and the girl took off about 6 inches in length then a bunch all over by putting in tons of layers. I wanted to cut it shorter but my boyfriend would die (oh the things I do to keep him happy--well he does deal with my crazy ^.^). Its kind of short in the front but I really like it. So that was fun.

I finally listed a few pairs of earrings I made on my etsy shop. (www.etsy.com/shop/craftafarian) I use natural gem stones and hypoallergenic metal when possible. $1 from every sale goes to a non-profit animal advocacy group: currently our local SPCA. The rest will go to supplies and other bills. Eventually my kitty needs surgery and the money will go towards that. One thing at a time. So yeah, buy my stuff! Ive designed a few more things but need wifi access for at least 20 mins to list everything.

Tonight I will photographing my friends very first art exhibit during a gallery hop in Downtown Orlando.

Etsy!!

So I’ve just listed a few new items in my etsy shop. It’s a few pairs of earrings that I had been working on last week. They are pretty and cute so I’m hoping they sell. I listed the larger ones for $12 and the little ones for $6.50. I think that’s a fair price for my supplies, creativity, and time.

Giveaway Winner!!!

random_number_dec_giveaway
The winner is Sami from The Lotus Thrives Anyway!! Congrats!!
Send me your address and I’ll get this out to you as soon as I can <3
I pasted the random number generator because Sami and I are friends and she just happened to win this contest so I wanted to show the proof :)
Wooooo! So I’m exhausted with all this drama crap I’ve been dealing with, plus we had a christmas party for work last night (so so so awesome, I’m sure they are gonna tease me, I was reeeallllly tipsy!), and I had kennel duty, ANNND I’m pet sitting this weekend.
Tomorrow I’m going to post the story about my bf’s job. Annnnnd I don’t know what else. Ha.
Anyway, Sami will be getting the turquoise pendant (unless she changed her mind, which I doubt!) and the remainder will be available in my etsy shop starting tomorrow (hopefully). I can’t guarantee purchases will be arrive by or before christmas but I will do my best. If you live in FL or nearby states it may only take a few days.

GIVEAWAY!!!!! Seriously I mean it…

If you were so kind as to stick around during my 8 weeks of absence.….ok more like 3 but whatever. Rather than tell a whole big story I’ll just give you the short version:
Gma has been in and out of hospital so that’s just kind of always there. Work has been busy on and off. Tired all the time. Birthday came around and that seemed to take up more attention than I thought, but for the most part it was awesome. I have really great friends. and boyfriend :)
Oh and apparently my depression has been stupid lately so I’m sleeping a ton and only getting more tired. I woke up this morning with horrible black bags under my eyes, so much so David actually was like "your eyes look really bad.”
That’s ok, just gotta get up and DO something. So, I’ll write a post for tomorrow kind of catching up on my plans for my “life reconstruction” haha. Its good though.
Here is your giveaway!!! Its actually TWO PRIZES which means TWO WINNERS since I love you so much :)
giveaway pouch  inside giveaway1pouch
I made this awesome little pouch for one lucky reader :) Its approx. 4 inches tall by 7 inches long. Not much width. It’s the first pouch I’ve made so go easy on me!

New items on Etsy! AKA Show-n-Tell

So I wanted to share some new things I made…one pair of earrings and two charms for a necklace. All handmade! These will be available in my etsy shop as I’m hoping to get a decent amount of traffic to my blog tomorrow due to SewMamaSew Giveaway Day. You should definitely check it out monday after 9:30am there will be a list of around 300 blogs who are hosting giveaways on May 23rd! The item I am giving away is my favorite pendant that I made from a shell from Cocoa Beach, FL. That post will go out tonight around 11pm so it is ready for tomorrow. I’ll try to post a link to the blog list whenever they put it up on monday. Anyway…here’s some fun stuff:

Shell from Cocoa Beach, FL smoothed edges with dremel tool. Pearl bead attached with small bit of chain. Necklace not included, pendant only.

Same deal with this one. Sanded down rough edges. Attached a pretty pink bead to the top. Chain not included, pendant only. From Cocoa Beach, FL.

You guys may have seen these before, this was my valentines day project. I’m listing it on etsy because I can just make new ones and I thought it might  be a cute gift for someone for their anniversary. Hide little gifts in each box, or a cute love note.
These are handmade plastic canvas boxes with acrylic yarn. The letters have some dimension as I cut them from plastic canvas as well and stitched them onto the boxes.
And well I had another pair of earrings I was working on but those lil bitty shells did not stand up to the dremel or bits of wire that I use to connect them. If they are too weak to be made into jewelry then they are too weak to use at all.

And….. SNEAK PEAK! Cuz I want my current readers to see what they may be able to win tomorrow.
DSCF2061The photo of this will be much bigger tomorrow :) Good luck <3

ps-All my photos are edited in picnik—I highly recommend it :)

Today I made....

Today was a pseudo productive day. It seemed semi-productive but honestly I haven't gotten anything done yet, except for making earrings--when I should have been cleaning.

My poor dog River is still kinda sick, she has (probably--not 100% diagnosed) IBD, inflammatory bowel disease. She was tolerating our dog food pretty well for a while, but she is also on a medicine for urinary incontinence so we aren't really sure what is causing her tummy aches. (my carpet is very upset)

Otherwise life is going pretty well, the boyfriend and I are planning a trip to the beach tomorrow--we hardly have full days off together so we are pushing for a fun day in the sun.

Enough about my boring day...here are the earrings I made!!

The middle pair is clay beads and sterling silver hypoallergenic findings.
The outer pair is crocheted rings with sterling silver hypoallergenic findings.

I think I'm going to list these on etsy. I am also designing a mini clutch bag that can velcro to your dogs leash or your arm during walks/jogs.

I love taking my dogs places but I hate having a purse when all I need is a lil pouch to hold my phone, key, poo bags and head phones.

More pics!

FUN!!

Crochet!

So I tried out a new hat pattern that I found thru ravelry. Its called the rastaflorian hat.
Rastaflorian Hat--designed by a very talented yarn crafter. Check out her blog and the free pattern here.

I've been pretty absent from this blog lately, which doesn't mean I'm not stalking other blogs, I just haven't done much that I feel is worth posting. But I guess I don't always have to post about crafts, sometimes I have a fairly exciting life. Well, more amusing than exciting. Anyway I have a few blog posts lined up for this week and a few projects I doodled in my craft journal/notepad/to do list. Don't forget I am an avid amateur photographer so I will try to incorporate my photographic journey as well.

Blogs I recommend today:

Also check out Artichoke Designs! http://artichokedesignsblog.blogspot.com/ Kelsey is awesome, craft, and fashionable! She's hosting an awesome craft swap that I'm taking part in.

And as always...my favorite...http://www.thecuriouspug.com/

ok, ok...here's the pics of the rasta hat.

That is me trying to play with the timed shooting mode. Or whatever. The hat came out nicely. Not really my style but its super cute and I think someone will like it.
